Goldthorpe Big Local Community Housing Project
Barnsley Community Build (BCB) is pleased to have been appointed as a Local Trusted Organisation (LTO) by the Big Local, lottery fund.
BCB have been appointed to purchase 4 empty properties in Goldthorpe. BCB will employ a number of local unemployed people as modern apprentices to help renovate the buildings and to also provide the opportunity to achieve construction industry recognised qualifications in partnership with Moorlands College.
Two new members of staff will be employed as refurbishment supervisors to oversee the site work and to help develop the apprentices work skills and knowledge. Tom Shaw and Mark Sefton will join the construction team from December 7th 2015.
The Qualification will be delivered by Moorlands College staff, it will include a full NVQ level 2 framework that includes a diploma level 2 in General Construction Operations or Refurbishment/Maintenance plus Functional Skills Level 1-2. There will also be site work for apprentices that are looking for qualification assessment opportunities on route to achieving a general building operative qualification.
